To celebrate its 600th episode, (and the 27th Treehouse of Horror Halloween special), the Simpsons has released a unique virtual reality experience for iOS and Android smartphones.

Via the Google Spotlight Stories app, the 'Planet of the Couches' parody, shows the Simpsons hunted by the very sofa they so frequently lounge upon in the opening skit.

The 360-degree video is compatible with the Google Cardboard viewer and other headsets, with Google having an integral part in its creation.

The video was made available for download after the show aired in the US on Sunday (16 October).
