Samsung has been hit with more problems revealing it is in talks with US consumer watchdogs after a lawsuit against the firm over ‘exploding’ washing machines.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned of issues with some of the company’s top-load machines, with a law suit against the firm claiming the fault can lead to injury or damage.

The news follows Samsung’s global recall of its Note 7 smartphone due to ‘exploding’ batteries.

“In rare cases, affected units may experience abnormal vibrations that could pose a risk of personal injury or property damage when washing bedding, bulky or water resistant items,” a spokesperson for Samsung said, adding models sold outside North America would not be affected.

Samsung and the CSPC revealed certain top-loading washing machines from March 2011 to April 2016 were affected, advising consumers to check their serial number to see if their machine is compromised.

Last month Samsung was forced to recall 2.5 million Note 7 smartphones because of faulty batteries which caused some handsets to catch fire with users reporting “exploding devices”.

Earlier this week Samsung revealed new Galaxy Note 7 handsets would soon be on sale in South Korea rolling out into other markets, including some European countries, on 28 October.
