Throughout the day there were 55 million views of debate-related Live videos, according to preliminary data.

Part of what fueled the large numbers was news organizations’ use of Facebook Live throughout debate day. CNN gave viewers a tour of their campaign camper and spoke with Hofstra students, Fox News hosted a watch party with on-air talent, and BuzzFeed used reactions to understand viewer sentiment. ABC News, The New York Times, NowThis and NBC News also utilized the feature.

While many polls and pundits concluded that Hillary had won the debate, Trump captured a 79 per cent share of conversation on Facebook with the top social moment coming when he claimed that his strongest asset is his temperament.
