Donald Trump has stepped up his campaign against presidential rival Hillary Clinton ahead of their first televised face-off with the launch of a ‘Crooked Hillary’ Snapchat filter, which will be made available to users during the debate.

A preview version of the geofilter was labelled ‘Donald J. Trump vs Crooked Hillary’ but Time reports that the finished version will remove any direct attack on the Democratic candidate.

This won’t be Trump’s first foray into Snapchat, with his campaign team having previously experimented with filters at a regional level. However, it is the first time that the would-be Republican president has bought an overlay at national level.

Hitherto, it has been the Clinton camp which has more readily embraced the social media platform as a window to youth engagement, using it to promote the candidate during events such as the Iowa vs Iowa State football match.
