Ahead of the upcoming presidential and vice presidential debates, CBSN and Instagram today announced a partnership that will integrate Instagram Stories in CBSN’s coverage. CBSN is CBS News’ 24/7 streaming service; Instagram released its Snapchat-like Stories in early August

CBSN talent – including Nancy Cordes, Vladimir Duthiers, Major Garrett, Reena Ninan, Will Rahn and Bob Schieffer – will create Stories that will be featured in coverage before and after the debates.

As a streaming service, CBSN is taking advantage of its ability to more easily integrate social technology. The network will curate questions from voters and will use Connect Live, Telescope’s real-time audience engagement platform, to deliver the Instagram Stories live on air.

“Throughout this campaign, CBSN has highlighted new voices on new screens to bring politics to life, making a partnership with Instagram, which focuses on stories, a natural fit,” said Christy Tanner, Senior Vice President and General Manager, CBS News Digital.

CBSN has seen its numbers rise since the election kicked into full swing. During the two weeks of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, CBSN saw 14 million streams; August was its best month since launching.
