Samsung announces 'exchange programme' and $25 gift card for faulty Note 7 devices

Samsung has announced its own exchange programme for customers with faulty Galaxy Note 7 devices.

Releasing a statement in the US late Friday, Samsung said: “The US carriers have already halted sales and offered ways for customers who have already purchased the device to get refunds. Now Samsung has announced its own exchange programme, which will provide customers with a new device as soon as next week.”

Customers will be able to swap the faulty device for either the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, additionally the price difference on any Note 7 specific accessories will be refunded.

“Affected customers will receive a $25 credit on their phone bill or a $25 gift card for their troubles,” read the statement which no date given for when the Note 7 would be available for general purchase again.

The exchange programme comes after 35 reported ‘battery explosions’ globally with Samsung confirming it is now “conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market.”
