Image-sharing platform Instagram has taken inspiration from Snapchat’s Live Stories feature to introduce its own Event Channels functionality which bears more than a passing resemblance to its Snapchat equivalent.

The video channel will collate motion content filmed by users at events such as concerts and sports matches for distribution amongst the wider Instagram community – an almost identical set up to Snapchat’s Live Stories which collects location based photos and videos.

Rather than launch a mere copycat however the Facebook-owned service has added a few bells and whistles of its own by personalising the service for each user, taking notice of who and what they follow to inform what content is pushed out.

The audacious move onto Snapchat turf follows hot on the heels of Instagram’s swiping of Snapchat’s Stories feature just a few weeks ago in an attempt to muscle out the competition.
