Most recently Gillet served as the global vice-president of brand at Nissan's luxury arm Infiniti, he will now be responsible for leading the marketing strategy and plans for the Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty and Firefly brands across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

The senior marketer has international experience in the automotive and travel sectors, as well as in retail, and wine and spirits. He has served as chief marketing officer at Six Senses Hotels and Spa, and was also global brand director for vodka brand Stoli at Pernod Ricard.

His new remit will see him report to Matt Jauchius, chief marketing officer, and Jim Mueller, senior vice-president of sales, marketing and revenue management, international. He will oversee the regional marketing, e-commerce/digital, partner marketing, product development and brand teams.

Jauchius said: "Vincent’s participation in the development of Hertz’s global marketing strategies will be essential to continue to deliver consistent messages to our customers around the world.

"With a number of customer-centric innovations to be launched in the near future, Vincent’s skill set combined with his car manufacturing and travel industry experience, are certainly highly valuable assets for the company."

Hertz' marketing team has undergone a shakeup over the post 12 month - in October it enlisted former Nationwide marketer Matt Jauchuys as chief marketing officer.
