Coca-Cola has added its voice to calls for tolerance and unity in the wake of a spate of killings with a full page ad in USA Today declaring: “We Live As Many. We Stand As One.”

The campaign is being run concurrently across Coke’s network of digital billboards, including Times Square, in which the brand's iconic red accent and white ribbon will be used to urge citizens to come together whatever their race.

Writing to Ad Age, a Coca-Cola spokeswoman said: "Throughout the history of Coca-Cola, we have stood for optimism, diversity and inclusion. Deep in our heritage is a commitment to bringing people and communities together to find common ground. Today we shared a message of unity on our digital and social networks: 'We live as many. We stand as one.' This represents an idea we hope everyone can embrace."

Conceived in-house and running through to Sunday the campaign follows the killing of two black men at the hands of white police officers and the subsequent slaying of white police officers in Dallas by a black man.
