The Royal Highland Show, Scottish Comedy Agency, Edinburgh University and Northsound Radio are among those up for prizes.

Taking place on 5 October at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow, the black-tie occasion brings together the elite of the Scottish events industry in one room to celebrate and reward their achievements over the past year.

Amazing Days Scotland is up for the Corporate Event of the Year gong for its Scottish Incentive Weekend, competing against Northsound Radio’s Business Dinner and Radio Forth’s Forth Awards ceremony.

British Swimming’s IPC Swimming World Championships, Scottish Orienteering Association’s World Orienteering Championships and Scottish Six Days are up against the 2015 World Gymnastics Championships, organised by Glasgow Life, City of Glasgow, British Gymnastics, UK Sport and EventScotland, for Sports Event of the Year.

Hickory, Wilde Thyme, Appetite Direct, Ginger Snap Catering and The Orde Food Company are shortlisted for the Event Caterer of the Year prize.

This year’s shortlist was selected by an esteemed judging panel including: Mark Stewart, senior events manager, EventScotland ; The British Fashion Council’s head of events Josef Jammerbund and chairman Kevin Jackson who is the director of ideas and innovation at The Experience is the Marketing.

“I have judged a number of awards in the past and I felt the standard in most categories was particularly high and in a few was exceptional,” said Jackson, adding: “The judges’ room was in 'violent agreement' on most but there was some heated debate on others which made for an interesting session."

The British Fashion council’s Jammerbund, meanwhile, was in agreement that this year’s entries were “very creative and impressive.”

On the judging process, he said: “The judges were able to agree on a clear winner in most categories, however this was opposed by lengthy and passionate discussions around others in order to choose a final winner.”

The awards are sponsored by EventScotland, Tint, 21CC and Your Event Scotland.
