The agency won the account following an international competitive pitch through Havas Media International Paris, against the account’s incumbent Carat and ZODG London.
With an estimated £3m of spend, Havas Media Manchester has been charged with a brief to deliver national, local and in-store campaigns in the UK.
Mark Varley, managing partner at Havas Media Manchester, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to lead the media capabilities for Staples in the UK and are looking forward to partnering with them through their next phase of business expansion.”
Menno Kroese, print & media manager at Staples, added: “Following a comprehensive review process, Havas Media emerged as the right partner to help us drive our business forward. We’re looking forward to working with the team as we continue to build the next stage of the Staples brand.”
Havas launched its first UK Village in Manchester at the end of 2015 after winning the BBC’s £15m strategic media planning contract in July, leading to the agency opening an office near the BBC’s Salford headquarters to service the account.
