The Drum’s owner Carnyx Group has sold the Law Awards of Scotland to the publisher of the Herald.

Newsquest Scotland, which also counts the National and Glasgow’s Evening Times among its stable of titles, will now take over the management and running of the event.

The awards, which honour Scotland’s most respected legal professionals, were established by the Carnyx Group in 2004, but the media company has since changed strategy to concentrate on the global marketing industry through its flagship brand The Drum.

Co-founder Gordon Young said: “We were very proud of the Law Awards which was an outstanding event. We are delighted to see it move into the Herald stable where it will go from strength-to-strength."

Graham Morrison, Newsquest Scotland’s managing director, added: “I am delighted that the Law Awards of Scotland join our stable of high-prestige events that honour the best of Scotland’s talent in business, academia and a range of other areas.”

The next Law Awards of Scotland will be held in the autumn, with details to be published by the Herald and at lawawards.com.

The Drum’s team, meanwhile, will continue to organise leading events for the marketing industry, and the title's international growth will this year see it host its first awards ceremony in America, The Digital Trading Awards USA.
