Obama concedes US government cyber security weakness
US president Barack Obama has conceded that cyber security is a weak spot for the nation and called on public institutions to do more to ramp up their defences.
Warning that hackers had targeted the White House Obama states that public officials must keep pace with a rapidly evolving world in which smart phones and other technologies have rapidly permeated all aspects of day to day life.
The president remarked: “I am concerned about it, I don't think we have it perfect. We have to do better, we have to learn from mistakes. We know that we have had hackers in the White House.”
Cyber security has become a hot political potato in the race to become next US president with front runner Hilary Clinton embroiled in a scandal after using private email servers which may have been accessed by foreign powers whilst serving as secretary of state.
