Ranga Somanathan has joined the group from Starcom Mediavest Group where he was chief operating office of SEA and head of global network clients for the region.

The role was originally shared by separate chief executives for each country. He replaces Sony Wong in Singapore, who is taking an early retirement and Andreas Vogiatzakis departs from the Malaysia stewardship to take a role elsewhere in the industry.

Somanathan will report into Jasmin Sohrabji, chief executive for Omnicom Media Group, SEA and India, who said; “The realignment of leadership under a single leader reflects the common synergies of Singapore and Malaysia which will help in accelerating further growth. Ranga is the perfect candidate to spearhead the next phase of development for these two markets. An industry leader with a proven track record of success especially in the realm of digital and analytics, Ranga will ensure we continue to deliver our objective of being the very best we can be across all of our operations and I am delighted to welcome him to the network.”

Prior to his role at Starcom Mediavest Group, Somanathan led VivaKi Malaysia as chief executive. He has also been the vice chairman of ABC and was president of the Media Specialist Association from 2009 to 2012.
