Google grudge gunman arrested following spate of Mountain View assaults
A lone gunman with a grudge against Google has been arrested following a series of attacks against the technology giant’s Mountain View headquarters; including a number of shootings and a car being torched.
According to local police, the man was motivated by fear that ‘Google was watching him and that made him upset’, sparking a series of aggressive assaults on offices.
This started on 19 May when a Google employee was alarmed to see the man lobbing Molotov cocktails in the company car park and escalated on 4 June when bullet holes and broken glass were discovered following reports of a shooting.
These attacks were followed up by a 10 June assault on a Google car, which was destroyed after a man wielding a water pistol sprayed it with flammable liquid.
Subsequent investigations linked 30 year old Raul Murillo Diaz to the Molotov cocktail incident after he was arrested during a routine traffic stop transporting weapons cache and materials for a pipe bomb with suspicion that the man was also involved in the other attacks.
