Donald Trump refutes claims of anti-semitism in tweet furore
Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has sought to brush off anti-semitism critics after an image appeared on his Twitter feed of rival Hilary Clinton against a backdrop of dollar bills and the phrase ‘Most corrupt candidate ever!’, which was framed by a six pointed geometric splodge of red resembling the Star of David.
In response to subsequent criticism, Trump dismissed such comparisons, insisting that the shape could represent ‘a Sheriff’s star, or a plain star’ and sought to blame ‘dishonest media’ for fermenting the outcry.
Despite such protestations the offending tweet was take down however, with the star backdrop replaced by a simple circle carrying less baggage of association.
