Fruity King sullies ex-convict Troy Deeney's potential move to Leicester City with prison cage stunt
Online bookie Fruity King has initiated a provocative stunt outside Leicester City’s home ground, greeting potential signing and former convict Troy Deeney with a prison cage.
Fruity King's controversial stunt
The bookie, which has around 600 odd followers on Twitter, was looking to build its social media marketing klout with an off-taste marketing stunt, assumedly looking to emulate market leader, the ever-mischievous online bookmaker Paddy.
To do so, it assembled a cage and a ball and chain outside of King Power stadium making reference to Watford player Troy Deeney’s 10 month sentence in 2012 after a drunken brawl. He ended up serving two months in prison.

The stunt has not went down with the Twitter users who have seen it so far, with the feedback largely negative.
Nonetheless, Deeney maintained that his spell in prison was the “the best thing that ever happened” to him earlier this year in an interview with the Telegraph.
A Fruity King spokesperson told The Drum: " It has been one of the transfer sagas of the summer (so far)... This one hasn't been announced yet, but the rascals at Fruity King thought we could have a little bit of fun with this. Troy seems very boisterous, I'm sure he will see the funny side."
The Drum will update the piece if Troy (who is tagged in the post) sees the funny side…
The brand has been in trouble before. Back in January it suggested that footballer Yaya Toure’s wife’s attractiveness was not in line with his substantial salary.
