Vivendi chairman Vincent Bollore is reported to be ready to stand down from his involvement with the Canal Plus TV arm before September, according to reports in Bloomberg.

Appointed to the post just nine months ago, Bollore was responsible for overseeing the television arm of the business which encompasses six pay TV channels as well as producing its own films and TV shows.

The first sign of trouble emerged last month when Bollore raised questions over the future of the company, warning that channels could be scrapped if losses, estimated to reach €400 million in 2016, continued to rack up.

It is not clear what role Bollore will move onto next but it is thought that he may make a move to Vivendi’s Universal Music Group.

Speculation in French newspaper Le Figaro suggests that Vivendi deputy CEO Arnaud de Puyfontaine may be being lined up to fill in for Bollore.
