Fried chicken brand KFC is looking to power up its Indian sales with the launch of a battery powered meal box equipped with a range of ports to recharge mobile devices whilst gorging on chicken wings and Zinger burgers.

Watt a Box comes with a USB port and power button to which devices can be connected whilst chowing, although early reviews suggest that the performance isn’t overly stellar with an iPhone 5S gaining just 17 per cent charge over the course of a 30 minute meal.

Nevertheless for those in a tight spot the gismo could prove to be a lifesaver, even with the danger of gunging everything up with mounds of chicken grease.

KFC has been no stranger to digital innovations having previously introduced a photo printer chicken bucket and keyboard tray to its arsenal of gizmos.
