The Drum Search Awards winners were announced this evening, with SEO agency Wolfgang Digital recognised as the Grand Prix winner in a campaign for Littlewoods in its native Ireland.

Among the other winners in this year’s blue ribbon categories were Merkle Periscopix for best campaign using SEO and PPC, Wolfgang Digital was recognised for best strategy, TvTy’s technology was recognised as the best on show, with Forward 3D proclaimed as performance agency of the year.

Meanwhile, Precis Digital was recognised with the chairman’s award in a campaign for Zmarta Group. This was granted at the discretion of Simon Vaughn, head of PPC and programmatic at Direct Line Group, who chaired the judging panel where some of the largest names in the industry where represented.

Fintan Gillespie, awards judge and Google’s industry head, lauded the quality of entries, especially with the growing complexity of the space. “From leveraging 1st party audience data in search, integrating offline channels, optimising for online to offline and taking advantage of automation it's clear that the UK market is at the cutting edge of best in class search marketing.”

Meanwhile, fellow awards judge, Caroline Mastoras, head of sales at Bing for the UK at Microsoft Search Advertising, pointed out that the best entries were those that could demonstrate that their campaigns had multiple touchpoints.

Google also used its association with The Drum Search Awards – it was sponsor alongside Bing and Tint – to raise the profile of its diversity campaign, now in its second year, through its participation in the Women in Search initiative, the winner of which was publicly announced on the night.
