Airbnb suspends trans-phobic host following viral tweet
Airbnb has moved to ban a transphobic host from its community following a viral tweet by a spurned transgender guest who complained that they had been the victim of sexual discrimination.
Shadi Petrosky took to Twitter following the snub to hit out at her prejudiced host, as well as Airbnb itself whom she accused of doing ‘nothing’ after being informed of the incident.
The well-known Hollywood producer subsequently took to Twitter to relay the incident to her followers, reposting a reply from her would be host who brought up her 13 year old son as an excuse for not allowing Petrosky into her home.
I was denied @Airbnb because I disclosed that I'm trans. Airbnb did nothing. Had I not disclosed I'd be "dishonest" pic.twitter.com/jEkbEFIG2r

Despite the incident having occurred in 2015 the host in question was subsequently upgraded to ‘super host’ status by Airbnb and was only suspended after Petrosky’s tweet went viral.
Airbnb spokesman Nick Papas said: “Discrimination has no place in the Airbnb community. We are removing this host from Airbnb.”
