Halifax has turned to iconic cartoon character Fred Flintstone to front its latest advert.

Created by Adam&EveDDB, the ad sees Flintstone head to his local branch – along with wife Wilma – as he searches for a modern bank to switch to.

“At Halifax, we pride ourselves on doing things a little differently. It doesn’t matter who walks through the door, they will get a great welcome, great service and great products,” explained Russell Galley, managing director of Halifax.

“The Flintstones will help us to showcase Halifax as a modern bank that makes banking simpler, easier and more rewarding for customers.”

The ad launches today (Tuesday 7 June) and will be shown during the ad breaks of popular programmes, including the first Euro 2016 match between France and Romania this Friday. The Flintstones will also appear in online and in-branch advertising and social media to promote Halifax’s £125 current account switching reward.

The Flintstones follow in the footsteps of Top Cat who appeared in Halifax’s last ad. Of the campaign Catherine Kehoe, managing director of group brands and marketing at Halifax, said she was “delighted that the next exciting instalment will see The Flintstones getting the famous ‘extra’ treatment.”

In addition to Fred and Wilma the ad stars real-life Halifax colleagues as extras as the ad was filmed at London’s Old Broad Street branch.
