Dentsu media appoints global brand president to build the agency outside APAC
Dentsu Media has appointed a 32-year Dentsu Inc veteran to lead the charge in growing the business outside its native Asia Pacific region.
Takaki Hibino (see right) has been promoted to the role of global brand president, alongside his current roles as chief executive of Dentsu Brand Agency and Dentsu Media Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), which he will continue to do.
The idea behind the creation of the role is to push the Dentsu Media brand outside of the region.
Peter Huijboom, chief executive of media brands and global clients at Dentsu Aegis Network, said: “Given the growth plans we have for Dentsu Media globally it’s important to have someone with an international profile leading the brand. Hibino-san is a great fit for this role and will continue to provide value to our clients as part of our media brand portfolio, with this appointment he also joins the Dentsu Aegis Network Brand Board.”
During his 32 years at the Japan-based advertising agency network, Hibino has looked after the management of global brands such as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Shiseido. He was appointed executive officer of Dentsu Inc in 2014, where he was in charge of marketing, PR and strategic planning, as well as global business.
It is not yet known which markets will be targeted outside Asia Pacific.
Alongside Hibino’s appointment, Dentsu Inc also announced Akimasa Baba, who has been global president of Dentsu media and managing director of the global business center of Dentsu Inc will take on the role of chief executive of Beijing Dentsu.
