Airbnb is looking to become more socially responsible by clamping down on noisey lodgers using the app.

It is making efforts to make it easier for the neighbours of Airbnb households to issue noise complaints when subletters get too rowdy during their stay.

The company has issued a new 'Neighbours' tool allowing them to complain about guests. From here Airbnb will “review their concern and, if necessary, follow up with the host regarding the issue”.

A statement from the company said: “Neighbours can submit information without having their name disclosed to a host or allow our team to pass along their contact information so the host can follow up with them directly. Once a neighbour submits feedback, we will send a confirmation email, along with a case number.”

The move could help ease pressure on Airbnb lettors and enable greater feedback from the community – if ‘Neighbours’ and those regulating it are indeed up to the task.
