Volvo enlists fellow countryman Zlatan Ibrahimović to help it sell more cars
Volvo has signed up one of the biggest personalities in football, Zlatan Ibrahimović, for a new marketing campaign ahead of Euro 2016.
The Swedish carmaker has partnered with its fellow countryman to mark the launch of its latest ad for the V90 car.
The spot will air for the first time on 30 May, and sees the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain striker partner return to the brand’s marketing campaigns following his memorable 2014 ad where he recited the Swedish national anthem and hunted in remote Swedish forests.
“The campaign is a celebration of the independent mind, of the power that lies in the ability to think differently. There are many similarities between Zlatan’s and Volvo’s journeys. We haven’t gotten to where we are now by doing the same as everyone else,” said Anders Gustafsson, senior vice-president of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Volvo.
Having Ibrahimović featuring in the brand's latest promotion will undoubtedly draw a huge audience to the campaign given the 34 year-old’s outspoken and bold personality, which can be summed in his recent statement surrounding his departure from Paris Saint-Germain: “I arrived king. I left a legend.”
