Popular entertainment and social news service Reddit has introduced a new embed feature which allows users to better integrate content on external sites around the web.

Operating in a similar fashion to an embedded tweet, video clip, or Facebook post the feature will enable Reddit to break-out of its silo and reach far larger audiences by making its material far more accessible and shareable.

Reddit believes such a move will foster stronger ties between itself, publishers and brands by allowing external sites to easily incorporate Reddit content into their reports whilst brands can push promoted posts around the web.

Tangential benefits such as higher revenues from views occurring outside the Reddit’s own domain and increased awareness and interest about Reddit are also expected.

In the past redirecting someone to Reddit content involved awkward solutions such as screen grabs or HTML links.
