Netflix is to mount its first foray into the much maligned reality TV market, after buying a Sylvester Stallone produced athletic competition series improbably titled Ultimate Beastmaster.

According to reports in variety Stallone will put contestants through their paces in a series of increasingly challenging obstacle courses that will change for every episode with the best performing athletes facing off against one another in the show finale to be crowned ‘Ultimate Beastmaster’.

Winners of individual episodes will have to make do with the slightly less flowery moniker of ‘The Beast’ for their CV’s.

Whilst Stallone won’t actually appear in front of camera the action star will likely bring some much needed star power to the format; which will be reworked for six different territories each of which will have its own pair of hosts.

Ultimate Beastmaster will be tailored to the US, Brazilian, South Korean, Mexican, German, and Japanese markets and will run for a total of ten episodes worldwide, although no release date has yet been set.
