Drum roll please, the Online Media Awards nominations are in and among those vying for the honours are Vice, Buzzfeed, the Financial Times and the Independent.

The event is a celebration of the great and good in media, championing the efforts of both new and legacy publishers to adapt to constantly shifting media space. Now in their sixth year, the awards were decided by a panel of leading media executives from The Economist, Refinery29, Dennis Publishing, the International New York Times and the Press Association

Among the publishers nominated for the ‘outstanding digital team of the year’ include Vice Media, Denis Publishing’s Alphr, Al Jazeera, Channel 4 and Conde Nast’s Wired. The ‘best campaigning/investigative journalism’ campaign will see publishers such as Buzzfeed, Reuters, the Independent, the New York Times and the Times and the Sunday Times battle for top honours.

Another key category will be ‘digital writer of the year’, which sees Business Insider UK’s global advertising editor Lara O’Reilly, Dennis Publishing’s staff writer for Alphr.com Thomas McMullan competing alongside journalists from the Guardian and the International Business Times UK.

The Awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday 7 May at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, London.

Sponsors of this year's awards include Iomart, Muck Rack, British Journalism Review, Press Association. TINT, RAR and The Drum Network.
