The 2016 victors of the Drum Digital Trading Awards (DTA) have been revealed, with Publicis Groupe’s Starcom Mediavest, Asda and iProspect, and Xaxis' European chief Caspar Schlickum among the winners in this year’s blue ribbon categories.

The results were revealed this evening (4 May) where cohorts from the UK digital media trading sector gathered at a gala ceremony to witness Starcom Mediavest Group recognised as the Grand Prix winner for a campaign conducted on behalf of Royal London, where the pair combined to use data and conduct a campaign engaging the over 50s market.

Commenting on the campaign, DTA judge Anthony Rhind, Adform’s chief strategy officer, said: “A very comprehensive approach linking call centre leads, and conversions with refined media activity. Best practice digital optimisation including creative all implemented. Aligned with TV activity and mix optimisation reflecting attribution across platform contributors.”

Dentsu Aegis Network’s iProspect was also lauded with the Chairman’s Award for a campaign on behalf of retail giant Asda, while Caspar Schlickum, CEO of Group M’s ad tech hub Xaxis, took home the Digital Trading Leader of the Year gong – an accolade that is granted by popular vote.

Of the 20 awards categories among the more notable winners were Starcom Mediavest Group and Collective, both of which took home two gongs. A comprehensive list of all category winners can be viewed here.

The Drum Digital Trading Awards, in association with The Trade Desk, reward programmatic performance, with 2016 representing its third year in existence in the UK.

David McMurtrie, Google’s head of publishers, UK and Ireland, said: “The Drum Digital Trading Awards are unique in covering digital trading across the entire ecosystem, recognising excellence in planning, creativity and execution. In a short space of time they have becoming a benchmark for the digital advertising industry.”

Andy Oakes, The Drum's managing director, commented: “In a very short period of time the DTAs have become the award to win in this industry. There is real kudos attached to winning one and its certainly the biggest night out of the year.

“The digital market has always had a transatlantic element and the DTAs will be no different. To thank our US friends for sending us some of the biggest names in ad tech, we are sending them the biggest awards in the sector – the DTAs USA. We've already had an amazing reception and I look forward to taking New York by storm in September.”

This year’s The Drum Digital Trading Awards, UK, are held in association with The Trade Desk and sponsored by Aspire, Audience2Media, Doubleclick, eXelate, Integral Ad Science, Just Premium, Rubicon Project, Sphere Digital Recruitment and TubeMogul.
