Twitter traffic surges 86% following deluge of #Havingaparty Leicester City FC tweets
Ecstatic Leicester City and football fans in general took over Twitter across the UK last night after the team beat 5000-1 odds to become Premier League champions, prompting an 86 per cent uptick on traffic for a Monday.
Leicester’s place in history was secured after a draw by Chelsea against closest rivals Tottenham Hotspur made it mathematically impossible for anyone else to clinch the top spot, sending fans into a tizzy both in the city and across the internet.
Responding to the surge in tweets in the UK Twitter #havingaparty, Twitter tweeted simply ‘wow’ before illustrating the champion’s impact with a graph.

That sentiment has been shared across the wider world with a rumoured Hollywood movie based on Leicester striker Jamie Vardy currently in pre-production to cement the team’s fame.
It has been estimated that the club could rake in £150m as a result of their historic title win according to figures published by Repucom.
