Given that Amazon’s Alexa could have been conceived in a ‘Twilight Zone’ episode, it makes sense that Syfy today became the first entertainment network to launch an Alexa skill for the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, and Amazon Fire TV.

Owners of these products can now get immediate and exclusive news about Syfy programming by asking Alexa questions like “Alexa, ask Syfy what happened on this week's 12 MONKEYS?” or “Alexa, ask Syfy what happens on the next episode of HUNTERS?” and Alexa will give a recap and sneak peark, respectively. More, diehards can ask in-depth questions and get a response; fans of Expanse, for example, can ask Alexa what the protomolecule is.

“We’re excited to work with NBCUniversal to bring the Syfy skill to our Alexa customers,” said Rob Pulciani, Amazon Alexa Director. “Many of our customers are die-hard science-fiction fans, so we think they’re going to love all this great content now available to them. They can find out when their favorite Syfy show is coming on, what happened last week or what's coming up, all in a convenient, simple way using just their voice.”

The skill was developed by Syfy’s innovation lab, Syfy Labs, with NBCUniversal Media Labs.

“Whether it’s VR, 3D printing or integrating the Internet of Things into viewing experience, Syfy Labs delivers new and innovative ways for fans to experience and interact with the network’s programming. Since innovation and imagination are part of Syfy’s brand DNA, we’re thrilled to join the growing list of skills available on Alexa-enabled devices,” said Matthew Chiavelli, Senior Vice
