Brands (still) celebrate #EdBallsDay on social media
Happy Ed Balls day. Again.
The Twitter-fail has grown to parody levels almost emulating the likes of Christmas. It all started five years ago when the then Labour MP Ed Balls marked his debut on the social network with a seemingly accidental tweet of his own name.
Now, half a decade later, brands and the socially-savvy annually celebrate the day. So much so that it was the top trend on Twitter on Thursday and had substantial reach on Google additionally.
The question is, will we still be talking about Ed Balls day 28 April 2017.
Social media analytics firm Brandwatch celebrated the anniversary.

Is #EdBallsDay commercial enough yet for us to use it as a promotional mechanic? Ed Balls + Dough Balls. There's something there. Sort of.
