For the last three weeks, The Drum and One Minute Briefs have been setting hypothetical quick-fire charity briefs to remind people that donating just a small amount of time can make a huge difference to important causes. On Thursday (21 April), we made it real by setting a live one-day brief for the youth charity Big Change.

At its heart Big Change is about finding ways to help young people to thrive in life, not just in exams, so we set a One Minute Brief to advertise that exams aren't everything for young people.

The Drum's community of creatives and One Minute Briefs' army of followers promptly responded with scores of brilliant creative ideas dreamt up in just a matter of hours. You can see a selection of the best submissions below and we'll be announcing the winner on The Drum and One Minute Briefs' Twitter accounts very shortly.

The charity competition was the brainchild of students at Ravensbourne University, who we invited to help us develop a campaign to promote BeWorthwhile, the volunteering app from Mashable that was brought to life at The Drum's Do It Day event last year.

BeWorthwhile aims to reinvent volunteering by matching volunteers' time, location and skills with the charities that need them the most. Its founder, Mashable's executive director Ben Maher, says its aim is to put an end to "volunteering for volunteering's sake" and instead arm charities with the manpower they need to fulfill their goals.

So to help spread the BeWorthwhile message, we first challenged the creative industry to advertise a charity for mobile phone addicts, then invent ads to tackle internet trolling and finally take on the real brief for Big Change.

The Big Change brief coincided with The Drum's launch event for BeWorthwhile at Advertising Week, where Maher talked us through the concept, Big Change managing director Essie North explained her brief and we exhibited some of the best One Minute Briefs entries we'd received. You can watch a recap of the session here.

Also at Advertising Week, The Drum launched its Do It Day film, which tells the story of how one day in November last year, we challenged some of the world's biggest brands and creatives across the globe to make the world a better place in just 24 hours. The documentary explores how BeWorthwhile and other industry projects came to life in just one day.
