Wieden+Kennedy, Set Creative walk away big winners as Portland celebrates evening of outstanding creativity
Portland’s premier evening celebrating the best in creativity, The Rosey Awards, presented by the Portland Advertising Federation (PAF) during Design Week Portland (DWP) did not disappoint.
At the event, a total of 19 awards were doled out to a range of agencies doing work for a number of brands both in and outside of Oregon.
Held at Polara Studios in Southeast Portland, Wieden+Kennedy and Set Creative both walked away with four Roseys, the top prize (there are also awards of merit and excellence). Renowned design firm Sandstrom Partners and agency Beautiful Failure both won two Roseys, while audio production company Digital One was a one-Rosey winner along with agencies CMD, HMH, Mutt Industries, Sally Morrow Creative (SMC), Struck and North.
Brands represented by the Rosey winners included Nike (Wieden+Kennedy, Set, Digital One), Xbox (CMD), Sprite/Coca-Cola (Set), Verizon (Wieden+Kennedy), Portland’s TriMet transit commission (HMH), Stillhouse Spirits (Sandstrom Partners), Jordan Brand (Set), Deer Valley Resort (Struck), G Adventures (Mutt Industries), Big Haunt (Beautiful Failure), The Walter Collective (SMC) and Granite Gear (North).
“The Rosey Award is difficult to win and the jury’s decisions underscored the fierce competition again this year,” said Molly Spaniel, PAF president. “With 222 entries, there was so much great work to judge. In seeing all of the Rosey, merit and excellence winners, it definitely reaffirms that Portland’s creative community continues to do world-class work in a place that people love to live and work.”
This year’s judges spanned the globe and included Julia Melle, ECD, Publicis Dallas; Jim Elliot, global chief creative officer, Arnold Worldwide, Boston; Will Chau, creative director, GSD&M, Austin, Texas; Vicki Maguire, creative director, Grey, London; and Daniele Monti, former global creative director, Starbucks, Seattle.
"The work was fantastic,” said Chau. “It’s great to see that the balance of big ideas and amazing craftsmanship are alive and strong in Portland."
