To celebrate the Ad Club of New York's 120th anniversary, The Drum is inviting readers to share their favorite marketing moments from the past 120 years.

Today’s marketing moment was chosen by Ted Royer, chief creative officer at Droga5. One of his favorite marketing moments is a Little Caesars commercial from the ‘90s called ‘Focus Group.’ In the wacky ad, a focus group moderator asks different groups of people whether or not they’d like more cheese and more toppings on their pizza.

As the ad progresses, the focus group attendees get more and more bizarre, ranging from clowns to hairy figure skaters to “people with big noses.” But the one thing that brings this eclectic group of people together is that they can all agree on more cheese and more toppings.

“So smart, so funny, so on the nose,” Royer said of the ad. “I remember standing in front of the TV watching that ad and deciding, I want to be in advertising. You can get paid to think up stupid jokes? Sign me up.”

The ad was created by agency Cliff Freeman & Partners, which closed its doors in 2009.
