'Take me out the ballgame' gets the #BeersWith treatment on National Beer Day
In the American tradition, there are scads of “days” out there. In April, for example, you can be treated to faux holidays such as “Draw a Picture of a Bird Day,” “Barbershop Quartet Day” (God, no) or “National Prime Rib Day.” One of the better holidays, however, is National Beer Day, a celebration of the sudsy stuff and the Cullen-Harrison Act (which ended prohibition in the US). When it was signed, then-president Franklin Delano Roosevelt famously said, “I think this would be a good time for a beer.”
Anheuser-Busch began a campaign, “Let’s Grab A Beer,” not just for the day itself, but to evangelize for all manner of beers — and Kansas City-based independent agencyBarkley has just released a video to support the initiative, combining two of America’s greatest loves, beer and baseball.
#BeersWith Opening Day (referencing the first week of the Major League Baseball season), includes real-life bartender and percussionist Jesse Boley. He pours ten beers into variously shaped glasses, gets ahold of two long bar spoons and plays the iconic song “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” as a crowd sings the song in the background.
It’s a crafty way to get the message out about getting out to the ballgame and enjoying a cold one on those lazy summer days.
And likely far better than what’s on tap for “National Zucchini Bread Day.”
