Omnicom has promoted Mark Halliday to MD of Accuen, the Omnicom programmatic agency division for APAC.

The new role is a promotion from his previous role within Omnicom, where he was head of Airwave APAC, the group’s specialist mobile division. His role directly replaces that of Jonathan Mackenzie, who is leaving the business in June.

In the new role he’ll lead programmatic planning and buying for Omnicom Media Group for both its OMD and PHD brands, as well as managing the development of custom programmatic solutions for clients.

According to Omnicom, the appointment represents a greater merging of mobile and programmatic technology and an increasing investment from the agency group into automated technology.

Lee Smith, Omnicom Media Group’s CEO of digital, APAC, said: “As the mobile and programmatic spaces collide and the cross-screen optimisation imperative grows, Mark’s experience and expertise will help assure the most effective and efficient programmatic solutions for our clients.”

Halliday will report into Smith, moving into the new role immediately. It is not known who will replace him at Airwave.
