Google Search has acknowledged the vast traffic that can be generated by fans of talent shows such as localised versions of The X Factor and the ‘…Got Talent’ by implanting Google Search into each productions' voting system.

An Asia-only update will see mobile and desktop users able to vote for their favourite contestants in Fremantle Media licensed talent shows, following trials with Vietnam's Got Talent and The X Factor Indonesia.

With the update, Google Search will sit along landline, text and app votes to further boost the outreach of each show.

The Next Web reports that Fremantle Media is hoping to bring the feature to the Indian and Thai markets via its Google partnership.

The Search integration with popular media is just an example of the many ways Google is trying to adapt its product’s interactivity beyond the mere retrieval of information, and as an access portal to other services.

Back in February Google scrapped right-sided desktop ads on its Search results, reducing the number of ads on the page but bringing them front and centre above and within the central text.
