Equator acquires UK’s first Google driverless car to shuttle clients between its Glasgow premises
Ideas agency Equator is taking staff transport in a new direction after acquiring the first Google driverless car in the UK.
The futuristic autonomous bubble car will be used to transport Equator staff and clients from its base on Elliot Street in Finnieston to the premises of sister agency 999 Design on Lynedoch Street in Glasgow and back again.
James Jefferson, co-owner and chief creative officer of Equator, said: “We are proud to have taken ownership of the first driverless car in the UK. This is a real coup for Equator. As an ideas agency that specialises in creative solutions we are always experimenting with the very latest in innovative technology that will benefit our clients. It’s great for us to be able to showcase our futuristic and innovative edge by being the first UK owners of a Google autonomous vehicle."
Jefferson added: “The car looks like something out of a science-fiction movie and travelling in it is quite surreal. I was never a great backseat driver, but I’ve been in the car a few times to travel to our 999 Design premises and I’ve put my trust in Google or ‘Betty Bubble’ as we like to call her. I’m sure our clients will enjoy the experience.”
Equator acquired 999 Design in February of this year, expanding the creative talent within the Equator Group, which also includes Equator PR and Equator Events.
