Channel 4 recruits UK’s first transgender continuity announcer
Channel 4 has made broadcast history with the use of the UK’s first transgender continuity announcer Amy Stanning debuted at 17:00 on Thursday (30 March).
Stanning is the first member of the UK’s transgender community to be given such a role and introduced a number of popular programmes including Eight Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Alan Carr: Chatty Man.
Channel 4 is marking International Transgender Day of Visibility by raising awareness of the community and highlighting the discrimination they face in day to day life.
Stanning said: “I’m delighted that Channel 4 are celebrating the International Transgender Day of Visibility during primetime TV,” said Stanning, who works for Barclays Mortgages and is co-chair of their LGBT employee network.
