Disney brings The Good Dinosaur to life with handprint experience
Disney Pixar celebrated the launch of The Good Dinosaur on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download last weekend (19-20 March) by erecting a real-life version of the protagonist’s grain silo.
The brick structure was located in London’s Victoria Station across the two days, primarily targeting families visiting London across the weekend.
Visitors were encouraged to ‘leave their mark’ on the silo using their hands – when pressed against the exterior, a heat-activated film left a multi-coloured print of their palms on the silo.
Children could also reach inside the crevices and pull out a plastic egg, which contained details of the prize available to pick up on the way out of the activation. Disney collaborated with toy brand Tomy to provide the merchandise.
The brand worked creative agency Bearded Kitten to deliver the activation, while DDA brought on board to amplify through PR.
The Good Dinosaur release will be further promoted with a mummy blogger campaign tonight. A number of influencers with kids have been sent a pack containing merchandise and a DVD of the film, and have been encouraged to switch on at 6pm and tweet their thoughts.
