Airbnb Cuba listings set to open up to the world next month
Globetrotters will soon be able to book into Airbnb rentals in Cuba thanks to special authorisation from President Obama for the country to open up global bookings on the site.
Listings will be made available to international travellers as of 2 April; a year since
the firm first started offering Cuban rentals to US tourists.
Airbnb was the first major US brand to enter the market in Cuba following a pledge by American and Cuban governments "to begin to normalize relations" between the two countries.
The announcement was made yesterday (20 March) when Obama touched down in Havana as part of dramatic bid to restore ties to Cuba, marking the first presidential trip to its capital since 1928.
Officials in Cuba inked a similar deal with Starwood Hotels & Resorts on Saturday (19 March).
