Breakfast fans have been left choking on their cereal this morning following news that Kelloggs has begun a criminal investigation after a video emerged online appearing to show a man urinating on one of its production lines.

The unofficial toilet break appears to have taken place at the firms Memphis plant in Tennessee back in 2014 and will have affected a number of products including Rice Krispies Treats – all of which will now be past their expiry date.

A Kellogg’s spokesperson said: "Food quality is of the utmost importance to Kellogg Company. We are outraged by this completely unacceptable situation, and we will work closely with authorities to prosecute to the full extent of the law."

Local police and regulators have been alerted to the incident pending further inquiries.
