NBA partners with TuneIn to extend global reach

Online radio network TuneIn has partnered with the NBA to broadcast live play-by-plays of NBA games around the world.

The multiyear partnership will see the San Francisco-based audio network expand the reach of the NBA globally with live coverage of NBA preseason, regular-season and postseason games to its premium members beginning with the 2016/17 season.

TuneIn Premium members will also have access to next season’s the entire NBA Playoffs and The Finals, as well as marquee events like the NBA All-Star Game, State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, and the NBA Draft presented by State Farm.

As part of the NBA and TuneIn will work together to create and launch original content including analysis and fantasy shows. The audio network will also host on demand replays of the ten most recent games for each team and will eventually launch a live 24/7 channel.

TuneIn’s chief executive content office, kevin Straley said: “The combination of our platform with a global reach in 230 countries and territories, and the NBA’s international fan base makes this a perfect fit to extend TuneIn’s growing sports content portfolio.”

David Denenberg, NBA senior vice president of global media distribution and business affairs, said fans “consume our content in numerous ways from television and radio, to mobile and social media, TuneIn’s global platform is another unique way for our fans to experience the excitement of our game.”

TuneIn says that it’s digital sports content is consumed by around 60 million active monthly users and already has partnerships with the Premier League, NFL and MLB.
