Spotify integrates with Facebook Messenger to ease song and playlist sharing

Music streaming service Spotify will soon integrate with Facebook Messenger, making it easier for users to share their favourite songs.

The diversification of Facebook’s messaging platform will allow the sharing of tracks, albums and playlists, although they cannot be listened to within the conversation.

Instead it links through to app on the device, granting the Swedish music streaming footfall, and helping to catalyse music conversations on the messenger.

The move will help seed Spotify conversations in the chat app which has around 800 million monthly active users.

Research from GlobalWebIndex estimated that over 37 per cent of adults globally used the app in January 2016.
