Liverpool FC has partnered with social network agency Vixlet to launch a new social portal for its global fan base.

The redesigned LFC Xtra is a transformation of club's ‘Xtra magazine’ and offers fans exclusive content and a dedicated social media platform.

The social network has been designed by the Los Angeles-based Vixlet and will enable fans to check out the latest club and player news, watch videos or troll over statistics.

Users will also be able to create and share their own stories, customise the layout and engage with other fans.

The social aspect to the platform builds on the club’s partnership with Skype earlier this year which was designed to increase and strengthen engagement between fans throughout the world.

Liverpool’s chief commercial officer, Billy Hogan, said that the new partnership would build on this and help promote fan engagement.

“Vixlet is a social network like no other and we’re delighted they have become a partner enabling us to bring a brand new social portal to our fans. LFC Xtra will be the place for our fans around the world to interact with the club and each other like never before.”

The Merseyside club has made LFC Xtra available on iOS, Android and online.
