Apple is reportedly moving into producing original content with a series starring its business partner and hip-hop pioneer Dr Dre.

The technology giant will finance a six-episode series called 'Vital Signs', with each 30 minute edition meant to be semi-autobiographical account of the producer’s life, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Each episode centres on a different emotion and how Dr Dre’s character deals with it in what is being touted as a dark drama.

The report claimed that there is an orgy scene. Additionally, Iron Man 2 star Sam Rockwell is rumoured to be among the cast.

Episodes are most likely to be distributed to fans via Apple Music though the report did not know whether it would also be shared via ITunes or other Apple platforms like Apple TV.

Similar to Netflix, the series will be made available in its entirety from launch.

It would see Apple and Dr Dre continue their working relationship, which first began in 2014 when the technology business bought his headphone brand Beats for $3bn.

Apple has been long-rumoured to be moving into producing original content, with reports surfacing recently that it has met with industry exeucitves to help shape the plan. Such a move would be in line with the company’s attempts to be less reliant on the money coming from its hardware business and position itself more as a services business in order to spread its revenue streams across more opportunities.
