Kim Kardashian: Hollywood studio hopes to break the App Store with Taylor Swift mobile game
Gaming studio Glu Mobile has announced that it will release an official Taylor Swift mobile title later this year.
The studio previously landed a big hit with the free to download Kim Kardashian: Hollywood app which generated a total of $62m in the year after its release 19 June 2014.
Fuelled by in game microtransactions, the title appealed to Kim-obsessed fans and a growing audience of female casual mobile gamers. Its unparalleled success marking it Glu Mobile’s best performing title to date.
Looking to replicate the success, the company has signed a “multi-year partnership" with Taylor Swift, on this, Niccolo de Masi, Glu Mobile's chief executive, said: “We realise that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience.
“Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor's unique creativity."
Taylor Swift joins the company’s roster of celeb titles, which includes games from Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Gordon Ramsay and Jason Statham.
It comes after Kim Kardashian West claimed she "broke the App Store" with her Kimoji' keyboard last year.
