J. Walter Thompson and its sister digital agency Mirum have decided to create a new social media unit that consists of the ‘best of’ the two agencies resources.

The Social Team will serve Singapore-based clients by using staff from both agencies, as well as the production resource from J. Walter Thompson and the data and social analytics team at Mirum.

“We’ve got social media expertise on both our agencies, we’ve got a tier-one content production unit at JWT, a market-leading digital and social analytics team at Mirum – it made sense, from the client’s point of view, to bring together a ‘best of’ team to deliver the social media strategy and content they need,” said Nanda Ivens, Asia Pacific chief executive of Mirum.

The Social Team will be headed up by Ivan Ng as head of social and Kimberley Olsen, who will take on a business development role. Both joined in 2015. They will report into Mirum’s Ivens, as well as Peter Womersley, chief executive at J. Walter Thompson.

Mirum was created last year by bringing together multiple agencies from the J. Walter Thompson Group to create one network digital agency, including XM Asia Pacific.

According to Mirum, Ng and Olsen added new clients such as American Tourister, Dulux Paint, Clarke Quay and Crabtree & Evelyn to the agency’s roster last year.
