Apple has confessed a bug is preventing the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus from displaying the correct battery charge, meaning some iPhones are shutting down while still displaying a full charge.

According to Apple, the misreporting of battery percentage occurs when a user manually changes the time on their iPhone or moves between times zones.

Apple is set to release a new version of iOS in 9.2.1 soon, as well as a major update in iOS 9.3 in the next few months, both of which have been released in beta.

It is said a fix to the battery bug will be contained in both of these updates.

Meanwhile, the company has suggested that users affected by the bug should restart their iPhone and enable automatic time setting within the ‘Date & Time’ settings.
